Try before you buy
If you are interested in joining us but not sure, you can attend two monthly or group meetings before you decide. You can just turn up to a monthly meeting, but please get in touch with us (see the Contact us page) before going along to a group meeting, to check that there is a vacancy.
Benefits of membership
Members may attend any of the monthly meetings, seminars and social events, and may join any number of activity groups, subject to availability of places.
When you join you will be sent a copy of our newsletter which includes a full diary of events and contact details for all group coordinators. The newsletter and U3A News, the magazine of the Third Age Trust, is issued three times a year to each member household.
Other benefits of membership are discounts at Henry Roberts bookshop in Kendal, and a facility for buying various items of computer software at educational prices via the Third Age Trust.
What does it cost?
Membership costs £12.00 per person per year, renewable in August. For new members joining between 1 January and 31 July a reduced fee of £8.00 applies for the part year. A small fee, usually 50p, is also charged for each group or general meeting attended.

- Apply in person at any Monthly Meeting or the annual Coffee Morning held each September (see the Meetings page for dates).
