What we do
Eight members attended the first meeting in September. We had a lively discussion on what constitutes mythology, how it differs from folklore and legend and the purpose behind the creation of myths We also considered whether it would be possible to create myths today that would have the same impact on society as the ancient myths.
In October we looked at myths concerning Creation and started to compare the similarities and differences of these myths in various cultures. We all felt that the Aboriginal ones indicated this culture’s affinity with the natural world. In November we will be looking at the Norse and possible Celtic myths on this subject.
