What we do
Amblers walks proceed at a fairly gentle pace, are about 5 miles long without much climbing (maybe 500 feet or so, depending on the leaders). Along the way we stop for a coffee break and a picnic lunch.
Generally the walks are within the boundaries of South Lakeland but we do occasionally wander into the neighbouring districts.
Because of the difficulties of finding sufficient car parking space
for some of the walks it is helpful if members share cars as much as possible.

November 2007:
The current membership is 70 with an average of about 30 people on each walk.
Thanks to our volunteer leaders we have enjoyed many varied walks this year, mostly within the Lake District National Park
including Cartmell Fell, Coniston Water, Crook, Far Sawrey, Langdale, Skelwith Bridge, Staveley, Windermere, Winster, Witherslack etc and recently Alan Hill led a walk in which he described the features of the Dry Stone Walls in the Hawkshead area.
Two were in the Yorkshire Dales (Chapel le Dale and Sedbergh). We also had several walks in-between the National Parks, including Arnside, Farleton Fell, Great Asby Scar Orton, Helsington, Warton Crag and even one within Kendal itself!
